Required listening

… for everyone who’s alive: “The Messiah” by George Frederick Handel. Incredibly beautiful, and perfect for the season.

The reason I post this is that I pulled out my copy of it today to help me work on my research paper (which I will publish here shortly). I ended up pausing every now and then just to turn it up and enjoy. The whole thing is 2.5 hours long, but after two listenings, my paper was done. Hallelujah!

For a limited time, I’ve posted the end of the famous Hallelujah Chorus. This is beyond doubt the most majestic song in praise of God I’ve heard yet. It’s best if played at full volume. I really don’t think I’d mind if it were used as the Gospel acclamation at every Mass (and the great Amen could be the Amen from the Messiah, the final track).

KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS! HE SHALL REIGN FOR EVER AND EVER!
