Here’s a potential Catholic

Somehow I got a referral from this blog recently. Good material, reminds me somewhat of my own life. Anyway, the current entry talks about learning of and honoring Church figures throughout history. Just for a few examples, he names Athanasius, Polycarp, Irenaeus, and John of the Cross.

This is wonderful. After two thousands years, we have a massive treasure trove of example, knowledge, and inspiration from our saints. Anyone, Catholic or not, will benefit from examining their lives and teachings. But a word of caution: if you look too closely at their distinctive beliefs (e.g., on the Real Presence, Mariology, or ecclesiology), you might find that they belonged to a certain Church headquartered just west of the Tiber…
